This is a snapshot of the avatar I created for a Second Life project in my CI 350 class. I thought that second life was somewhat odd. I found some people's obsession with it a little unsettling. However, I could see merit in using it in classroom instruction. For my classroom, we could take a virtual trip to Paris and actually interact with real French people. The students could practice their conversational skills with students in France. We could also immerse ourselves in the culture by visiting famous landmarks like the Louvre, the Eiffel Towel, and Versailles.The possibilities are endless and fascinating. While I can appreciate the learning possibilities of Second Life, I do not necessarily agree with the freedom students may possess in navigating this world. There would definately be a need for filters or some sort of blocking system to control where the students could and could not visit.
